| Birth: | Jan. 15, 1828 Fairfield County Connecticut, USA | | Death: | Oct. 15, 1853 Washtenaw County Michigan, USA | Adelia A. Hoy was the daughter of Charles H. Hoy and his wife Mary Ann Banks. The Hoy family moved from Connecticut to New York about 1832, and to Toledo, Ohio about 1833, finally arriving in Washtenaw County, Michigan about 1835. Adelia's mother died about 1841, and her father probably died before the 1850 census. In the 1850 census, Adelia and her sister Emily A., and her brother William H. Hoy, were all enumerated in separate households in Manchester. Her recently married brother, George W. Hoy, was omitted from the census, while his bride, Sarah Lovejoy Root, was still listed by her maiden name. Her half-sister Mary and step-mother Nancy were not found in the 1850 census.
