Second wife of Sherman Otis Houghton and a Donner Party survivor. She chronicled the early years of the state on October 10, 1861 in Sacramento, California. Eliza belonged to several organizations, including the Red Cross, the Native Daughters of the Golden West, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was also active in her church.
