CARRIE ELIZABETH HOUGHTON (LIZ) Born in Jefferson City, Mo., in 1942, a longtime resident of Alameda, Calif., for 52 years, entered into eternal rest on April 4, 2005, at the age of 62. Her husband of 44 years, Joe Sr.; three sons, Joe Jr., Scott and Tom (wife, Brenda); mother, Genevieve Bills; and sister Jennifer Bills survive her. Beloved grandmother to Courtney and Shelby. Numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of beloved friends also survive her. Liz graduated from Alameda High School and then went on to Cal State Hayward, becoming a registered nurse working in Oakland area hospitals for 25 years. Liz was avid reader, enjoyed movies, cooking and trying out new recipes. She was especially fond of traveling the country with her husband. She treasured the time she spent with family and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, April 10, 2005, 4 to 7 p.m., and funeral service on Monday at 10:00 a.m., at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave, Oakland, CA 94611. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
