Susan Virginia Bruce was born at Mt. Sterling, Ill., Sept. 5, 1849 and passed away at her home in Perry, Iowa, Dec. 9, 1921.
When she was only one year of age, her parents moved to Iowa and settled at Winterset. In this vicinity she grew to womanhood and married John L. Herren, who survives her. She is also survived by three children: Mrs. Walter Bolt of Perry, Chas. Herren of Macksburg and Ms. Addie Wirt of Mansfield, Wash.
At an early age, she was converted and became a member of the M. E. church, and has always held to her faith in her Lord. Having lived in the days of the pioneer and having been a faithful wife and mother, she has contributed much to society, and the world is better for her having lived.
