David Hennlnc CHICAGO, April 2.—David Henning, the Chicago apple king, Is dead at his former home In Battle Creek, Mich., from a rupture of a blood vessel. Mr. Henning was born at-Newry, Armagh county, Ireland, November 25, 1821, coming to America when twelve years old. He learned the cooper trade in Detroit and started a shop In Ann Arbor. Finding himself overstocked with unsalable barrels, he filled them with apples and the sale started him on the road to .wealth. He became so heavily Interested In the trade that he removed his headquarters to Chicago, where he became known as the "Apple King."
