Kiffin grew up in Burnsville, NC, the son of William Wren and Ruby Mae Anderson Hennessee.
Kiffin served in the Pacific during World War II, assembling and testing torpedoes in the United States Navy.
He achieved an Associates Degree at Asheville-Biltmore College (now UNC-Asheville) in the early 1950's, following his discharge from the Navy.
Kiffin was a Master Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite as part of North Wilkesboro Masonic Lodge 407. He also served for some 20 years as an Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 334.
Kiffin is survived by his wife, Miriam; two sons, Keith Hennessee of Houston, TX and Philip Hennessee of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren; and by one great grandson.
Burial will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park.
