Poet. Born into a prominent Boston family, her education consisted primarily of private schooling. Her childhood hobby was creating works of literature. In October of 1902, at age 28, she began devoting her work to the art of poetry and literature. Her first work, A Fixed Idea, was published in 1910 in The Atlantic Monthly. The first volume of her works, A Dome of Many-Coloured Glass, was released in 1912. While visiting England in 1913, she met the poet group The Imagists. The group included her works in their books, and by 1914, she took responsibility of leadership of the association. The group was later renamed in her honor as The Amygists. During her career in poetry, a total of more than 12 years, she wrote and published over 650 pieces of literature. In 1955, The Complete Poetical Works of Amy Lowell was published.
