A resident of Zachary, she died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at Lane Memorial Nursing Home, Zachary. She was 83 and a native of Hattiesburg, Miss. Memorial services in the chapel of First Baptist Church of Zachary, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, conducted by Dr. Wayne Barnes. Survived by a daughter, Joan Fendlason, Zachary; two sons, Elmo Hegwood, Baton Rouge, and Robert Hegwood, Clinton; two sisters, Christine Hartfield, Hattiesburg, and Nonnie Spiers, Biloxi, Miss.; two brothers, George Sellers, Hattiesburg, and Jack Sellers, Brooksville, Miss.; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Malvin M. Hegwood; and a daughter, Frances Fenske, who lived in Cape Coral, Fla. She was a member of First BaptistChurch of Zachary. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
