Rites Held For John P. Hedrick
Funeral services were held at 4 o'clock last Saturday afternoon in the First Presbyterian Church here for John P. Hedrick, elderly father of Mrs. Esther Westall, who passed away May 17 in Community Hospital where he had been a patient since May 13. Burial took place in the Wickenburg Cemetery.
Born in Poca, West Virginia, June 3, 1866, Mr. Hedrick would have observed his 90th birthday next month. Before coming to Wickenburg in 1929, he spent 46 years as a coal miner in West Virginia and Kansas. During his residence here, he served as a caretaker at both Remuda and Monte Vista Ranches, for a period of 15 years. Several years ago he returned to Poca where he made his home with two sisters but he returned to Wickenburg last Fall and has been living with his daughter and family here. His wife, Myrtle, passed away May 3, 1943.
Mr. Hedrick is survived by four daughters and four sons: Mrs. Westall of Wickenburg; Mrs. E. M. Rathburn, Hawthorne, Calif.; Mrs. Ralph Tolman, Lompoc, Calif.; Mrs. John Loss, Berwyn, Ill.; Julian, Kansas City, Mo.; Stanford, Detroit Mich.; Carl, North Miami; Fla., and Lyde, Seattle, Wash.
Also surviving are the two sisters, Florence and Frances Hedrick of Poca and three brothers, Hubert of Charleston, West Va., and Elmer and Walter of Ohio. Mr. Hedrick left 23 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
