Oneontan Dies at 73; Rites Monday
Mrs. Amand Heck, 73, of 14 Telford St., died yesterday of a heart attack at Fox Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Monday at the family home, followed by a Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Heck was born April 28, 1879 at Wilkes-Barre, Pa., the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Schrodle) Knauer. On Nov. 17, 1906, she was married to Amand Heck in St. Boniface Church at Wilkes-Barre. Mrs. Heck had lived here for 28 years, moving from Wilkes-Barre.
She was a member of the Rosary Society of St. Mary's Church, Gold Star Mothers', Spanish-American War Veterans Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Knights of St. George of Wilkes-Barre.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Arthur O'Connor, Albany, and Mrs. Gertrude Alger, Oneonta, six sons, Edward of Dallas, Pa., Leonard of Herkimer, Joseph of Pittsburg, Pa., Gustave of Binghamton, Charles and Amand Jr. of Oneonta; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Christner, Flint, Michigan, Mrs. Anna Harris, Oxford; one brother, Joseph Knauer, Benzonia, Mich.; 24 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Friends may call anytime after 4:30 p.m. today at the family residence. Arrangements are by the Fothery Funeral Home.
