Levi Hathaway was the son of Simeon and Debra Austin Hatheway. He married Esther Hawley 23 Nov 1775 in Bennington, Bennington Co., VT. He was the father of six known children:

Levi brought his family from Bennington, VT, in 1785 and built a house of logs, the only lumber being that which formed the box bed of the sleigh in which the family moved. In 1798 he built a large 2-story house, where he kept tavern. In 1800 he moved to Swan Town Falls, where he had mills and died 31 Nov. 1831 aged 67. Ref. Hist Swanton, p 1003, built Grist Mill; p1005 Moderator; p. 1007, July 12, 1810 , first Regt. VT. Militia stationed at Swanton Falls; Shadrach was Major; served in Battle of Plattsburg 1814; Levi, Simeon and Josiah. p. 193, Silas sold goods in Swanton in 1803.
