James William Garrison's actual birth year was 1859 Bath, Mason, Illinois (shown on 1860 census in the household of his maternal grandparents Susanna and James W. Honey). He has one natural sister - Sarah F. Garrison Gee (lived in Vernon County, MO 1880-1900) and 2 half sisters, Eliza "Jane" Pesterfield Davies and Launia C. Pesterfield Pierceall.

James' father, Mason Garrison, died 1862 in the Civil War. His mother, Margaret Honey, then married James H. Pesterfield 1864. Margaret died sometime between the birth of his half sister, Launia (1867) and the 1870 census.

J. W. Garrison Dead at 63 Years.

J. W. Garrison passed away Sunday afternoon about 3 o'clock at his home on Ming street, where he had been very low since stricken with paralysis a week ago. He had been in poor health for the past few years.

Funeral services Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Presbyterian church conducted by Dr. Ralph Ward. Burial in the city cemetery will be in charge of the Elks.

James William Garrison was born in Bath, Ill., February 26, 1860. As a young man he came to Missouri locating at Schell City, where he was married over forty years ago to Miss Florence M. Davis, who with her two children, Mrs. Henry Bryant of Marshall, and Harry Garrison of this city, survive him. He also leaves four grandsons. Mr. and Mrs. Garrison moved from Schell City to Holden in 1890, from there to Warrensburg three years later, until 1908, when they moved to Oklahoma, and resided there until 1915, when they returned to Warrensburg. Mr. Garrison for several years was a commercial salesman for the Vitt-Mayes company, but was forced to give up work on account of poor health.

Mr. Garrison was a member of the Presbyterian church, the Elks and Modern Woodman lodges.
