Estelle Hall Freeman was born in the Broad River township of McDowell County, NC. She was the daughter of James Alexander and McCartha Dalton Hall. She married Boyce T. Freeman 25 January 1930. She and Boyce had three daughters, Margaret, Elizabeth and Jo Ann, 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She and Boyce raised iris and peonies on their farm near Shelby, NC. They were active members of the First Baptist Church in Shelby, NC.
