In England, he attended the Church of England, but he came to Canada about 1909 under the auspices of the Salvation Army as a farm boy. He first went out west where he eventually bought some land. Then, later he went to Montreal, where he met and married Maud Mapp about 1914 (He was about 29). Maud had moved to Montreal as a teenager to work. After they married they moved to Lake Placid. He wasn't allowed to stay because he didn't have immigration papers so they moved back to Montreal.
Eddie was born in 1915 in Mont Tremblant, Ontario, where Maud's family lived. Florence was born in 1917 in Desaronto, Ontario. Charlie was born in 1919 in Parry Sound, Ontario, along with Ethel, Ruth and Bob. Ted became a Christian in 1921 in Parry Sound and joined the Salvation Army.
After serving in WWI, Edward worked for a chemical company (probably beginning in Montreal) that moved him around alot, finally ending up in Parry sound. His mother came to visit them in Parry Sound (winter of 1923-24) when Maud was pregnant with Bob. They moved from Parry Sound to Bracebridge, where they were for a couple of years. May was born there in 1926 and Jean was born there in 1928. Then they moved to Chatham in 1929. Margaret, George, Dorothy and Keith were born there. Moved to Windsor about 1938.
