Sgt Frankel, Company K, 3rd Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division, was Killed in Action during the 12 day Battle of Triangle Hill (598) near Kumhwa North Korea on October 18, 1952. Frankel's company was part of a two company assault on Hill 598 against the Chinese Peoples Volunteer Army 15th Corps. After two attempts to take the crest of the hill, both companies suffered heavy casualties, Frankel being one of them, & had to be withdrawn. His remains were not recovered. He was awarded the Purple Heart & Combat Infantry Badge. Frankel's name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing.
