"SC College in the War"
"Louis Perrin Foster, the son of Barham Bobo Foster and Mary Ann Perrin, was born at Cedar Spring, S.C., Oct. 4, 1837, and was prepared for college at the Spartanburg Male Academy by Col. A.F. Edwards and Rev. Clough Beard. He was a member of the Clariosophie Society and received the degree of B.A. in 1858. He studied law at Spartanburg with Bobo, Edwards and Carlisle, but immediately after his admission to the bar volunteered for the war in 1860. He was elected second lieutenant in company K, Third South Carolina Volunteers, Kershaw's Brigade. He fell as Captain commanding Company K at Fredericksburg, Dec. 13, 1862."
