Son of Asher Pipkin and Marilla Elizabeth Cantrell Fly. Spouse of Sophronia Virginia Ferguson Fly. They had 14 children.
Albert enlisted in the Confederate Army 8th MO Inf, Co. G. Sept 2, 1862 at Washington County, Ark. He last appears on muster rolls Oct 31, 1862 as AWOL.
He enlisted with the Union Army Co. H, 1st Missouri Cavalry, January 4, 1863 at Fayetteville, Ark. later transferred to Co. G. He was discharged Sept. 1, 1865 at Little Rock, Arkansas.
The middle of July 1874 he packed up the family and started for California. They got as far as Colorado that fall. Then they homesteaded a place near Slater, Colo. on a little creek later called Fly Creek, in 1876. There they built up a small ranch. In 1894 after all the children were grown and gone he and Sophronia moved to Calif.
