Carl Fischer, of Lansing, age 82, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in Lansing. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Dave Hintz officiating. Those desiring may make contributions to Hospice of Lansing/Stoneleigh Residence, 3411 Stoneleigh Drive, Lansing, MI 48910. Cremation has already taken place. Visitation 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the Memorial Service at the funeral home. Carl was born in Flint, Michigan on May 4, 1927 and was a resident of the Flint area most of his life, moving to Lansing in 1985. On July 21, 1951 he married Loraine McMurphy in Angola, Indiana. He was a member of American Legion Post 310. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a former member of First Reformed Church and was a volunteer worker for Easter Seals for 10 years. Mr. Fischer was employed by Buick Motor Division for 34 years, retiring in 1981 and was a member of UAW Local 599. Surviving are two daughters, Betty and husband Matt Ronan of Grand Blanc, Diane and husband Jeff Pridgen of Holt; five grandchildren, Elena, Raquel, Alexis, Steven and Stefanie; brother, Edward Fischer of Flint Township; sister, Alma McPhee of Novi; several nieces and nephews.
