Blair Findlay NORTH OGDEN – Blair Findlay, 91, former Chief Deputy Sheriff of Weber County, died Wednesday, August 5, 2009 in North Ogden. He was born March 24, 1918 in Randolph, Utah, to Sidney Arthur and Phebe Jane Jones Findlay. He spent his early life on the family ranch in Randolph and graduated from South Rich High School. He later moved to Ogden. Blair married Lou Jean Swan on May 29, 1951 in Humboldt County, Nevada. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy. Blair was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a Central States Mission in the Missouri area. He worked for the Ogden Transit Company as a bus driver and Superintendent of Transportation. He also worked in law enforcement and was Chief Deputy Sheriff for many years. He retired from the Department of Transportation in 1980. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Lou Jean, of North Ogden; one brother, Burke J. Findlay, Page, AZ; children, Gordon and Shirie Findlay, Allyn, WA; Doug and Susan Findlay, South Ogden; Carol Anne Ambrose, Riverton; James B. Findlay, South Ogden; Brent and Leslie Vaughn, Roy; Barry and Teresa Sanderson, Layton; one stepson, Paul and Pat Rice, South Ogden; 19 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Blair was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Velma Findlay and Nedra Winward, and one grandchild, Brandon Rice. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
