David served as a Second Lieutenant & Co-Pilot on B-24H #41-29423, 786th Bomber Squadron, 466th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
He resided in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on March 29, 1942 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Electrician and also as Single, without dependents.
B-24H #41-29423 took off from Attlebridge, England on a bombing mission over Oschersleben, Germany. They were attacked by German fighter planes which damaged the #1 engine causing them to crash in Germany during the war. One parachute was seen leaving the B-24.
David was "Killed In Action" on this mission.
He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated here on April 3, 1951.
He was awarded the Purple Heart.
