THE DEATH OF DR. JAMES M. FICKLE
The death of Dr. James M. Fickle occurred yesterday morning at 11:30 o’clock at his home in Stockwell. He had been in poor health for some time and was only confined to his bed for three weeks. The direct cause of his demise was uremic poison. Deceased was born in Clinton county, near Jefferson, on January 8, 1847. The family was one of the most prominent in the county and a station on the Clover Leaf railroad now bears the name. Dr. Fickle served in Company A. One Hundred and Fiftieth Indiana Infantry, during the Civil War. He was married on September 18, 1872, to Miss Elizabeth McCombs. Dr. Fickle graduated from the Eclectic Medical Institute at Cincinnati, in May , 1873, and at once located in Lauramie township for the practice of medicine.

Dr. Fickle was one of the oldest physicians of Lauramie township and had an extensive acquaintance throughout the county. He took a lively interest in politics and served for five years as trustee of the township in which he lived. He was a man of rugged ...(Read more)
