Artis Cline Fenimore, 90, passed into eternal life on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. She was born October 7, 1924, to Walter and Anna (Picken) Cline in Winterset, Iowa.

Artis was a 1942 graduate of Winterset High School. Artis was a homemaker and also worked for many years as a receptionist at Mercy-Hilltop Medical Clinic in Des Moines. She was a member of the Mitchellville United Methodist Church, the Mitchellville Historical Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. She lived in the Thomas Mitchell historical home for 47 years and was caretaker of the Mitchell historical church across the street from her home. She conducted many tours of her home and gardens, and the church during those years. She was a valued member of the community for 68 years and enjoyed helping others. Artis loved all animals, especially her cats. Her favorite pastime included tending her beautiful gardens and spending time with her family.

Artis is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Carol Lynn Mathis of Urbandale; sons, Chris (Cynthia) Fenimore of Terre Haute, Indiana, and Dan (Laurie) Fenimore of Mitchellville; her son-in-law, Gary Davis of Des Moines; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Beverly Harridge of South Bend, Indiana, Marilyn McNamara and Dixie (Robert) Young both of Winterset; and many more family members and dear friends. Artis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roger Fenimore, her son, David Fenimore and her daughter, Karen Davis; two brothers, Jack Cline in infancy and Keller Cline.

Services will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 9 to 11:00 am at Mitchellville United Methodist Church, 200 2nd St. NW. Burial to follow at Mitchellville Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa or to Mercy Hospice-Johnston in loving memory of Artis.
