Erma Lord Fender of Wickenburg, age 94, passed away March 31, in Oro Valley, Ariz. She was born September 6, 1913 in Brohman, Mich., to Fred and Matilda Ellis Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Fender, a son Bernard Robart, and sister Edna Lord as well as brothers Kenneth, Bill, Melvin, Donald, Harold and Ovia.
Erma is survived by children Margaret and Garnet Zimmerman of Big Rapids, Mich.; Vernon and Geraldine Robart of Casnovia, Mich.; Thelma Stuart of Fruitport, Mich.; and daughter-in-law Elsie Robart of Whitehall, Mich.; stepchildren Charles Fender of Wellington, Ala.; Alice and Dale Merrifield of Garden City; and John Fender of Foley, Ala.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Fender had worked in grocery stores in Newaygo, Mich., and also in Wickenburg. She was employed by GM, and her husband and she owned and operated Fender's Modern Motel in Roscommon, Mich. They retired to Wickenburg where they were both active with the Wise Owl Senior Center and also volunteered at the Red Cross.
Family services were held Saturday, April 5 at 2 p.m. at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Grant, Mich. The family suggests any memorial contributions be made to Hospice Odyssey Healthcare of Tucson or the Wickenburg Senior Center.
