Funeral services for Leon Henry Faatz, 84, were held Wednesday, August 14, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. at Clausen Funeral Home, Burke, SD, with Pastor Mark Tuttle officiating.
Interment was in Graceland Cemetery, Burke, SD with Clausen Funeral Home in charge of arrangments.
Casket bearers were his grandsons.
Music was provided by Lisa Mayer and Jane Tuttle. Averell Braun attended the register.
Leon H. Faatz was born Oct 21, 1911 at Carlock, SD, the oldest of six children, to William and Elizabeth (Horst) Faatz and died Aug 11, 1996 at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 20 days.
Leon grew up and attended rural school near his home. On August 26, 1934 he was united in marriage to Della Fode and to this union seven children were born. Throughout his life, Leon farmed, worked construction and was a motel proprietor.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents; three sons: LaVern, Leroy and Larry; one daughter, Lyla; one grandson and one great-grandson.
Leon is survived by his wife, Della of Burke, SD; two daughters: Lavina Bahm of Gregory, SD; and Leona Besmer of Bertrand, NE; on son, Leland, of Lebanon, NE; 19 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two brothers: Ted of Arizona and Rienhold of Madison, SD; three sisters: Freida Vrzal of Gregory, SD; Anna Fode of Gregory, SD, and Vera Klundt of Illinois; and a host of other relatives and friends.
