Percy Estell, 84, Died Friday

Percy L. Estell, a well-known farmer and sportsman of Monroe Township, died last Friday, April 11, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. He was 84 years of age.

Percy Lee Estell was born at Casey, Iowa on August 25, 1890, the son of Alfred W. and Amanda Carter Estell. He was married to Grace M. Beaman at her parents' home in Adair County on March 13, 1913

A resident of Madison County for the past 47 years, Mr. Estell was affiliated with the Webster Methodist Church. A lifetime farmer, he was a former ASC committee man and a Monroe Township trustee. He was an avid hunter and sportsman.

Survivors include his wife Grace M. Estell; two daughters, Dorotha Bryan of Panora and Wanda Kraetzer of Sparta, Wis.; and two sons, Audry J. Estell of Keokuk and Floyd L. Estell of Lakewood, Colo. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Bessie DeVault of Stuart.

Mr. Estell was preceded in death by his parents, one son, seven brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, at the Collins funeral home in Winterset, with the Rev. Newton M. Coughenour officiating. Burial was in the Dexter Cemetery at Dexter.
