Whereas I the Subscriber James Emlen being of Sound disposing Mind & Memory but Considering the uncertainty of time, do make & ordain this my Last will & Testament ———
Imprimis, I will that all my Just debts be paid. ———
2d. I will to my faithful Housekeeper Sarah Davis two Hundred pounds.
3d. I give to my Cousin Thomas Fisher One hundred pounds in trust for the use of the General School at West Town. ———
4th. I will that my Good friend Nathan Yearly have the preference as a Miller to my Mill, as long as it may be mutually convenient either on the Shares as he now has it, or at a very Moderate rent, ———
5th. I will that all the residue of my Estate both real & Personal be Equally divided amongst my Six Children, Share & Share alike, ———
6th. I nominate & appoint Miers Fisher of Philadelphia & Abraham Pennell of Middletown, Executors of this my Last Will & Testament. ———
7th. I also appoint my Brother in Law John Peirce & my Friend Thomas Stuartson & Jonathan Evans of Phila/a Guardians over the persons & Estate of my Children, hoping they will have a religious care over their conduct & Particularly in placing them out for their Education &c That they be under the Inspection of Persons of pious exemplary lives. ———

The foregoing Will being duly Proved and Approved Letters Testamentary were Granted unto Miers Fisher & Abraham Pennell, they first having been duly Affirmed well and truly to Administer the same, Exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of Settle their accounts, as the Law directs — Given under my hand and the Seal of Office at Chester this 9th day of November Anno Domini 1798. ———
