Richard W. Elder, 77, of the Coatesville Veterans Administration Hospital's nursing care unit, died at 2:15 a.m. Friday morning, Jan. 6, 1995, following a long illness.
Born Oct. 28, 1917, in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late John W. and Elizabeth Kramer Elder.
While living in Chambersburg, he attended Zion Reformed Church.
After graduating from Chambersburg High School in 1935, he joined the U.S. Navy.
Surviving are two brothers, Wilson H. of Chambersburg and James H. of Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and 10 nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
