Dorothea J. Dyck, 87, retired executive secretary for the Women's Missionary Association of the General Conference of the Mennonite Church, died Saturday (March 3, 2001) at Kidron Bethel Health Care Center in North Newton.She was born Dec. 24, 1913, to the Rev. Henry J. and Katie (Regier) Dyck in Elbing. They preceded her in death.She also worked as a nurse aide for eight years. She was a member of the American Bible Society. She taught Bible School and Sunday School.Survivors include: two nephews, Gerald Dyck of Assonet, Mass., and Gordon Dyck of Goshen, Ind.; and two nieces, Evelyn Bertsche of Normal, Ill., and Cindy Regier of Newton. She also was preceded in death by: a brother, Walter H. Dyck; and a sister, Gertrude Dyck. Funeral service was Tuesday at First Mennonite Church with the Revs. Elda Bachman and Verney Unruh officiating.Burial was in Zion Mennonite Cemetery in rural Elbing.Memorials have been established with the Commission on Overseas Missions and Mennonite Women in care of the funeral home
