Mr. Dietz was a self-employed residential carpenter. He was born April 3, 1915, in Chatsworth, the son of Louis and Gertrude Gewehr Dietz. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Cullom American Legion and Central VFW Post 2131. He was also a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Kankakee.
Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret L. Tjarks, whom he married Jan. 28, 1950, in Clifton; one sister, Gertrude Bugner of Eukia, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
