Sarah Ann married J. H. Axson about 1825. The couple had at least five children, including William A., John W., Thomas D.,Robert Edward, and Ellen. She lived in Orangeburg County, SC, all her married life and was a member of Hopewell Southern Methodist and Rocky Swamp Methodist churches.
Obit:"Southern Christian Advocate, 23 June 1887. Mrs. Sarah A. Axson died at the residence of her son, Wm. A. Axson, in Orangeburg County...on the 12th of April, 1887...relict of James (John) H. Axson, in the eighty-second year of her age... (Lucius S. Bellinger)." The account mistakenly gives Sarah's husband's name as James instead of John.
