Rosalyn Kay Dawson, 76, of Earlham passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Rosalyn was born July 9, 1937 to Howard and Helen (Parker) McClellan in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She attended school in Clarence and graduated from Clarence High School. Following graduation she attended Iowa State Teacher's College and Drake University obtaining an Education Degree. On June 8, 1958 she was united in marriage to Lyle Dean Dawson at Clarence. To this union two daughters were born: DeAnn and Susan. Rosalyn and Dean settled in Earlham in the fall of 1958 and began their teaching careers. She worked as a teacher in Earlham and then Van Meter Schools, retiring after over 40 years teaching.

Rosalyn was a member of the Dallas County Reading Association, Van Meter Education Association and the Earlham United Methodist Church. She cherished her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous friends. Some of her happiest times were spent at Lake Okoboji with her family and friends gathered around them. Rosalyn enjoyed traveling, attending family functions, and listening to Michael's live entertainment.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband: Dean Dawson and her parents: Howard and Helen McClellan.

Rosalyn leaves behind to cherish her memories her daughters: DeAnn Filkins of Earlham and Susan (Michael) Hope of Waukee; grandchildren: Donelle (Daniel) Hammerstrom and their son: Dawson of Bellevue, NE, DiAnna (Tyler) Zanoni and their son: Kaden of Des Moines, Anna Hope of Waukee, Jonathan Hope of Waukee; sister: Lois Stock; brother and sister-in-laws: Doug (Pat) Dawson and Conrad (Mary) Kiger; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends all of whom will miss her dearly.
