Raymond J. Croteau, Sr. 87 of Dartmouth, passed away Thursday June 2, 2011 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River. He was the husband of Jacqueline L. (Bussiere) Croteau.

Born in Fall River, son of the late Wenceslaus and Alice (Daigneault) Croteau, he had lived in Dartmouth for most of his life. A veteran of World War II, he served his country as a staff sergeant and was a member of the Carpetbaggers 801st 492nd Bombardment Group (H) U.S. Army, Eighth Air Force, and was awarded the Distinguished Cross. Prior to retirement, he worked for Rodney Metals in New Bedford. Mr. Croteau was a Communicant of St. George Church, Westport and was a member of the D.A.V.

Including his wife, survivors include three children: Raymond J. Croteau, Jr. of Hanson, Cheryl J.C. Blanchard of Dartmouth and Andre P. Croteau of Miami, FL; four grandchildren; and a great granddaughter.

He was brother of the late Roland J. Croteau, Wilfred Croteau and William Croteau.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, June 6, 2011 from the Potter Funeral Home at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Dartmouth.
