Arthur "Art" Earle Criss
March 23, 1931 - Jan. 10, 2013

Art was born in Lorimor, Iowa, on March 23, 1931. He succumbed to a debilitating disease on Jan. 10, 2013, in Shingle Springs. He graduated from Lorimor High School in 1949 and joined the Navy in 1950. He served during the Korean Conflict and Desert Storm. Although having several different careers, he best loved serving in the military, especially in aviation. He ultimately made a career of the military and retired in 1993. During his military career, he served in the Navy, Army, Air Force and National Guard.

Art was the beloved husband of 57 years to Barbara (Boots) Criss. He also leaves three children, Sue Ann, Colleen and Dave; two grandchildren, Diane and Dave; three great-grandchildren, Courtney, Michael and Riley; one daughter-in-law, Janice; two sons-in-law, Jerry and Raymond; and other family members and many friends. He was loved by all who knew him and is greatly missed.

Memorial services will be held at the El Dorado County Veterans' Memorial Hall, 130 Placerville Drive in Placerville, Calif., on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend. Art requested that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in his name to Snowline Hospice, 6520 Pleasant Valley Road, Diamond Springs, CA 95619, the VFW or the charity of your choice. His final internment will in the Bellevue Pioneer Cemetery in Bellevue, Neb.
