"Oneonta. Herbert Crippen of Worcester died Monday, Jan. 1st, at the Parshall hospital here. Mr. Crippen who was 73 years old had been in failing health for more than two years and had been a patient at the Parshall hospital for some time. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Bookhout funeral parlors, with Rev. J. C. Rankin, pastor of the Worcester Presbyterian church, officiating. Interment was made at the convenience of Mr. Crippen's family in Elk Creek cemetery. Mr. Crippen was born in the town of Worcester April 6, 1885, the son of Wellington E. and Christine Milks Crippen. Much of his life was spent in Unadilla where he worked as a carpenter, being associated for a number of years with the late George Handy. Mr. Crippen is survived by a niece, Mrs. William Patrick, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Flora Crippen, and several grand nieces and cousins."
