Beloved husband of Lucy, and father of one son and two daughters. They lived in Osburn, Idaho, across the street from the Osburn Elementary School (school is torn down now.) Their children all attended Wallace High School.

Gene shared a passion for Harley Davidson riding together and classic cars with his beloved wife, Lucy.

Gene was the head of the fire rescue team that went into the Sunshine Mine in 1972 to rescue the bodies of the 91 men who died.
