NEWSOM L. COON DIES; SERVICES SET WEDNESDAY
Funeral services for Newsom (Newt) Coon, 74, of Eros will be at 10 am Wednesday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home chapel in West Monroe, with the Rev. C. K. Brooks, the Rev. Seth W. Hamilton and the Rev. Lea Joyner. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery near Eros with Masonic graveside rites. He died Monday following a brief illness.

Mr. Coon was a retired farmer and a retired fireman with the Louisiana Forestry Commission. He was a native of Okaloosa, member and past master of Cadeville Masonic Lodge No. 229, member and past patron of the Cadeville Order of Eastern Star No. 208, and a member of the West Monroe Royal Arch Masons Chapter No. 93. Mr. Coon received a 50 year certificate from the Cadeville Masonic Lodge No. 229 in 1972. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife:
Mrs. Addie Mae McDaniel Coon of Eros
One son:
Max L. Coon of Monroe
Three grandchildren:
Airman 1st Class Robert Max Coon of Selma, Alabama
Mrs. Rebecca Chatham of Eros
