One of five children of Hattie and Jacob E. Cohen, proprietors of Cohen Brothers department store in Jacksonville, Florida. Cohens was called "The Big Store" as it was the largest department store in the southeast when it opened in 1912. The building in which it was housed was designed by Henry Klutho and today houses Jacksonville City Hall with the mayor's and city government offices.

Minna married Robert Seitner in 1921 and they would have at least three children, including: Robert C., Jack E., and Mina.
