Son of Jubal Jefferson Claytor and Elizabeth Victoria "Vittie" Miller.
Husband (1st) of Ruby Marie Redman, and father of her child Vernon Cecil Claytor.
(2nd) of Luva Brott, and father of her child Lauraetta Victoria Blaker who was given the name of her adoptive father and Luva's second husband Karl Blaker.
(3rd) of Emily Betz Zander.
He was raised in Severance in Doniphan County, Kansas, and then across the Missouri River at Saint Joseph before the family returned to Doniphan County, eventually settling in Troy. In 1912 he took employment with the Union Pacific Railroad working in the water service and repair department based at Grand Island, Nebraska. His son Vernon was born in a small house adjacent to the U. P. water station at Silver Creek, Nebraska.
He joined the U S Army in 1917, training at Camp Doniphan in Fort Sill, Oklahoma and serving in the 110th Ammunition Train. After the war he resided briefly at Junction City, Kansas where his daughter Lauraetta was born.
He remained with the U. P. R. R. until the railroad strike of 1922. Following that he joined the Missouri Pacific Rail Road at the Kansas City terminal, remaining until 1927 when he moved to Jefferson City, Missouri, retiring from the railroad there in 1948.
In his retirement he and his third wife Emily, a canary breeder, eventually moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas.
