William F. "Bill" Clark, 82, of Dresden, died at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Mr. Clark was born Feb. 2, 1925, in Zanesville, a son of Thomas E. and Ruth Birkhimer Clark. He attended Adamsville High School and was a Catholic by faith. He retired from Armco Steel in Zanesville after 30 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Mr. Clark was a life time member of the Charles M. Mitchell American Legion Post 399 where he served as a past post commander. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Dresden and D.A.V.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ruth Burkhard Clark, whom he married Oct. 4, 1947; children, Connie (Clyde) Buckmaster, Cindy (Jim) Kronenbitter, Jay L. Clark, Jim (Ann) Clark, Christine (Terry) King and Cathy Clark; 10 grandchildren, Mindy Ruggles, Tim Kronenbitter, Stephanie Hinds, Kevin Buckmaster, Kaci King, Kelly Buckmaster, Tara Pritchard, Tom Clark, Tim Clark and Lisa Clark; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Sam (Skip) Clark; a sister, Virginia Miller; and caregiver, Grace Rinker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Georgeanna Beatty and Rhea Finley.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2007, at the Vensil-Orr and Chute Funeral Home in Dresden with Frank Coon officiating. Burial will follow in the Dresden Cemetery.
