Died at his home in Owensburg, Monday morning, January 28, at 9 o’clock a.m. of heart and Bright’s disease. He had been ill six weeks and confined to his bed most all that time, but bore his suffering and was always patient until the last. He was fifty-eight years and twenty-eight days old at the time of his death; was a good husband, a kind father and an honest, upright citizen. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn his loss. The children, three boys and one girl, all of whom are grown, were with him during his sickness. Everything was done for him that kind hands and loving hearts could do, but all in vain. He was conscious until the last moment and knew all the family. He expressed himself several times during his sickness that he was going to die, and told his family that he was willing to die, and what a consolation it is to his family to know he was prepared and willing to go. While his family loses a good husband and kind father, and the community a good citizen, he has left a bright hope behind that he has done his duty here and is gone to rest where there will be no more sorrow, no more suffering and pain. Funeral was from the family residence on Tuesday at 3 o’clock p m. conducted by Rev. WHITTED, of the M. E. church of which he was a member, and the remains were laid to rest in the woodland cemetery, near his home. The community extends its sympathy to the heartbroken family, and may God help them to hear their burden of sorrow.
