WJilliam Cooper, 73, Conrail Retiree

Vermilion - William Gray cooper, 73, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at Amherst Hospital after a lengthy illiness.
Cooper was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy in both the Pacific and Atlantic Theaters.
He was a welder for conrail for 27 years, retiring in 1986.
Cooper was amember of the First Methodist Church in Elyria. He belonged to the Amherst Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1662. He was an avid firsherman, and enjoyed camping and music, especially playing the guitar and the organ.
Survivers include his wife of 56 Years Roberta (nee Feakins), sons William and Wayne, both of San antonio, Texas, and Robert of Milton, Fla., daughter Mrs. Glennadine Rhinhard of San Antonio, Texas, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, brothers, George C. Thieret of Wellington and Russell Thieret of South Amherst, sisters Lillian Solury of North Olmsted and Virginia Clapper of Glenview, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Maude (nee Miller) Cooper.
Graveside services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst. The Rev. John Buchco, pastor of Avon United Methodist Church, Avon will officiate. Militay honors will be given by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard.
The Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst, is in charge of arrangements.
