SNAKES ARE SCARCER AT ETIWANDA
A Young Lady of the Colony Proves Her Prowess In a Battle With Rattlers and Has Also Trophies to Show
Who said rattlesnakes?
Miss Birdie Perdew of Etiwanda, is proving her prowess as a hunter of his snakeship, having been fairly slaughtering them about her father's ranch at Etiwanda. As an idea of what she can do in this line, it is stated that she dispatched three reptiles within less than a half hour, yesterday, and not one of them but showed fight. Miss Perdew's courage and skill have made her the most talked of young lady in the Etiwanda section. Her father, Put Perdew, has also taken a hand in snake extermination, but the laurels all fall to the young lady.
Since the rising temperature of spring has announced the end of winter the snakes have been coming forth from their long sleep, and it has been seen that they are more numerous than possibly ever before. One family had a harrowing experience, finding the six months old infant of the household seated on the kitchen floor and cooing enticingly at a big reptile which was poking its head through a knot hole in the floor.
Such a report as this sent Miss Perdew into the field against snakes in general and rattlers in particular, and she has pursued her campaign with an earnestness which is already beginning to tell upon the common enemy.
