Obituary
Charles H Bridger, an old and respected citizen of Rivoli Township died at his residence on the Viola Road three miles west of New Windsor Sunday evening and was buried Tuesday. The funeral was held at the residence at 10 o'clock a.m., Rev Pinkney officiating. Charles Bridger was born in Troy, New York, September 15, 1832, and when but six years of age moved with his parents to Illinois and stopped for a few weeks on the site where Chicago is now located, but his parents concluded it was too low and swampy for health and came to Mercer County and settled in Suez Township at what is now known as Bridger's Corners. Mr Bridger's parents died when he was but seven years of age and he was left to make his own way in the world.
On the 18th of Sept, 1855 he was united in marriage to Martha Frances Smith who died some seven years ago. He leaves a family of nine children. George W of New Boston; Mrs Lucy A Carlson of Clearfield, Iowa; William S of Alpha; Mrs Carrie Anderson of Suez; Mrs Fannie Beck and Mrs Nettie Kinney of New Windsor; Orville C and Miss Jessie who resides at home, and Bert E of New Boston Township. Mr Bridger was a good citizen, an honest straight forward man and was highly respected by all who knew him.
