Obituary Excerpts - Lafayette Journal, Wednesday morning, April 19, 1916.
Owen T. Biery, one of the oldest and most highly esteemed citizens of Dayton, passed away at his home last night at 6 o'clock, death being caused by a complication of diseases. The deceased was 7 years old an was born at Leight, PA> He came to Dayton in 1859 and was engaged in the barber business for a number of years. The deceased was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in Company B, 150th Indiana Volunteers. He was a member of the German Reform Church and was a consistent christen. Mr. Biery was united in marriage in 1863 with Miss Susan Bolyard, who, with one son, John Biery, lives in Dayton, survives. He also leaves a brother, John D. Biery, of Egypt, PA., and a sister, Mrs. Mary Kidd, of Allentown, PA. Mr. Biery was one of twelve children, two of whom survive.
