PERRY R. BENGE DIED THURSDAY

Death occurs at Memorial Hospital at age of 88 years.

Perry R. Benge of Winterset died Thursday, Jan. 8 at Memorial Hospital here, at the age of 88 years.

Mr. Benge was born in Madison county June 12, 1870. He was the adopted son of Alfred and Margaret Benge, and his early life was spent in Madison county.

As a young man he homesteaded in Colorado for a time. He was married at Chariton on July 3, 1897, to Evelyn Lane of Lucas. For 17 years he worked in coal mines in Lucas and Monroe counties. Later he worked on farms in Madison and Dallas counties until moving into Winterset.

He leaves his wife; four sons, Harland, Fay and Eddie Benge of Winterset and Richard Benge of Des Moines; four daughters, Mrs. Orrel Beedle of Paterson, Mrs. Opal Crone, Mrs. Wilma Cooper and Mrs. Marjorie Petersen of Des Moines; 31 grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Richards Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. John Porath, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Goshen cemetery in Lucas county.
