Viola Henrietta Attell Bellach-Cole, born to the parents of Coleman and Julia Attell, was the youngest and only girl with five brothers; Archibald M. Attell, Jerome Attell, Mervyn Bertram Attell, Theodore H. Attell, Alvin F. Attell. She was the niece of the famous boxer, Abe Attell, Featherweight Champion of the World, 1901-1912; her Uncle Monte Attell held the bantamweight championship of the world,1909-1910; and her Uncle Caesar Attell also stepped through the ropes to make a living.
Her father owned Coleman Attell Jewelers on Fillmore Street. She graduated San Francisco's Galileo High School.
She and her late husband, Charles Herman Bellach, opened the original Bellach's Furniture Store in San Francisco in 1939. Mrs. Bellach-Cole was active in the business and accompanied her husband on all international buying trips.
While on her travels with her late husband, she was asked to appear on a Japanese television program for women to express her views on several matters as a U.S. mother and businesswoman. For many years, Mrs. Bellach-Cole wrote a column on decorating tips for the Marin Independent Journal. She also was known throughout the Bay Area for her interior design expertise and was instrumental in redecorating the Corinthian Yacht Club, the Officers' Clubs in the Presidio, and Hamilton Air Force Base. She was a member of Congregation Sherith Israel in San Francisco.
Mrs. Bellach-Cole later married C. Arthur Cole, a retired Air Force colonel, on Nov. 4, 1984.
She is survived by her husband of San Rafael; daughters Carole Joyce Falcon of Magalia (Butte County), and Sandra Jewel Ayeroff of Los Angeles; sons Jerome Attell Bellach of San Rafael, and Darryl Gary Bellach of Sonoma; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She died at the age of 88 years in Marin County of Kidney failure.
