Queenie was the daughter of Jesse Boswell Bass Sr. and Frances Rhodes Bass. She was born in Darlington County, South Carolina, and moved with her parents and siblings to what is today Faulkner County, Arkansas, about 1869. She married Lycurgus Worth Ruple in 1877.

Curg and Queenie were the parents of 15 children, including 3 sets of twins:
