Forest M. "Dutch" Barker, 102, of Oaknoll Retirement Center died Monday, November 8, 2004 at the Oaknoll Health Center following a brief illness.

Family Graveside Services will be Friday at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7PM Thursday, November 11, 2004 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Oaknoll Foundation or First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Barker was born in Peru, Iowa on January 15, 1902. He married Elsie Carlson on May 8, 1926 in Maryville, Missouri.

Mr. Barker was the co-founder of Central Sand and Gravel in 1939 and Central Ready Mix in 1942. In 1948 he founded Barker Construction Company.

He was a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose and First United Methodist Church. Forest, known to many as "Dutch", began playing golf in his late sixties. He had hit a hole in one while playing golf in Palm Springs.

Mr. Barker is survived by his children; Darlene (Jack) Neel and Robert (Carol) Barker, both of Iowa City. Eight Grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; his son-in-law, John Oehrle of Palm Springs, California. He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie and daughter Evelyn Oehrle.
