WAKEMAN — Barbara Jean Born (nee: Bowling), 57 years of age, and a resident of Wakeman passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Cleveland Clinic following a short illness.

She was born March 8, 1952 in Lisbon, Ohio where she was raised and lived until moving to the Oberlin area shortly after graduating from college.

Barbara graduated from Kent State University with a Degree in Biology, and used her knowledge working at the North Central Laboratories for eighteen years as a medical technician. She then was employed with Bayer Diagnostics, working in software validation for three years. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, floral arranging, and her greatest enjoyment was attending her children's sporting events and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband of twenty-five years Gerald Lee Born; her son Jared Michael and his wife Brynn Born of Amherst; her daughter Jillian Elise Born of Wakeman; her brother Rick Bowling and his wife Joyce of Murraysville, Pennsylvania; and her sister Jan Moutz and her husband Dan of Mogadore, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Bette Bowling (nee: McGill).

Friends may call Sunday, August 2, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 3, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
