Funeral Services for Norman J. Ballard, age 72, were held Saturday (July 8) at 3 p.m. in the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Wickenburg. He passed away July 2 in Sun City, Ariz.
Mr. Ballard was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. He married Marcella Burton Jan. 3, 1953 in Des Moines, and they made their home there. He worked for Ruan Leasing Co. for 27 years.
In 1989 he retired, and they moved to Arizona, settling in Wickenburg.
He was active in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and had served as head deacon for years. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed woodworking and ceramics as well as jewelry making.
He is survived by his wife Marcella Ballard of Wickenburg, Ariz.; daughters and sons-in-laws Joann and Dwayne Dedrick of Phoenix; Debby and Frank Torres of El Mirage, Ariz.; Carol and Bob Green of Des Moines, Iowa; Barbara and Kent Stewart of Des Moines; Diane and Matt Ostrander of Surprise, Ariz.; and daughters Judy Ballard of Youngtown, Ariz.; and Kathy Mumma of Des Moines. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; twin sister Norma Wehrend of Roanoke, Va.; and sister Viola Kenyon of Florida; brother George Ballard of Cary, N.C.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home.
